Asus Zenfone 8 Mini will be the Most-Awaited 5.92-Inch Compact Phone

Asus has scheduled a launch event for May 12 in the global market for the launch of the Asus Zenfone 8 series. Rumors are rife that the company will launch multiple phones at the event but the most interesting one would probably be the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini considering its compact design. So far we have managed to learn very little but the rumor mill for these Zenfone smartphones have become quite active lately. Now, we have a leak from Dealntech claiming the size and battery details of the Mini.

Asus Zenfone 8 Series Models and Specs

First of all, for those who are unaware, the two phones expected to launch at the May 12 launch event are expected to be called Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Mini. In the previous leaks, we learned that both the phones will power a flagship chipset and the internals would be mostly similar. The major difference between the two would be in the display size and the battery.

Display and Design

According to the publication, the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini or Flip(could be another moniker) will feature a way smaller display as compared to the current-gen phones. Today, we have mammoth 6.8 to 6.9-inch panels in most phones, and a compact device is always termed for those devices with a display below 6.4-inches.

While some appreciate the bigger panels, not many are a fan of a larger display. Now, Asus is said to bring its upcoming Zenfone 8 Mini/Flip and change the ‘compact’ phone term with its smaller 5.92-inch display. It is said to be an OLED panel and with thin bezels. It is expected to be a Full-HD+ screen with a high 120Hz refresh rate.

Asus, from the last few years, has tossed Zenfone devices with a full-screen panel meaning a display without any notch or punch-hole. It was the only brand in the segment offering a full-screen panel and fans admired it. But, it looks like it won’t be the feature for this year’s Zenfones. According to a teaser, the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini will sport a punch-hole panel.

Cameras and Hardware

As for cameras, Asus this year is said to ditch the flip cameras in the Zenfone lineup. Instead, it is said to have a punch-hole camera solution for the front. The Zenfone Mini is touted to have a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor as its main lens at the rear. As for the battery, the Mini is expected to have a rated capacity of 3835mAh which be marketed as a 4,000mAh cell when launched. Additionally, the battery will have a 30W fast charging support.

The smartphones were earlier said to fuel the Snapdragon 888 flagship chipset and now, the variants of the series have been suggested.

8GB RAM + 128GB Storage

8GB RAM + 256GB Storage

12GB RAM + 256GB Storage

16GB RAM + 256GB Storage

Other than this, the smartphones are expected to come at affordable flagship-killer pricing in Berlin, New York, and Taipei. Just after the initial debut, the handsets are expected to reach the Indian and Chinese markets.
