Last week we shared the list of the Top Upcoming Phone Launches in May and June in India and the list had one of the most awaited smartphones in India. The Poco M3 Pro which is consistent in the news since this month was said to launch in mid of May in the global market and soon later in India. Today, the company has gone on Twitter to confirm the launch date of the smartphone for the global market. Additionally, a render of the device was surfaced online revealing some significant details.
Poco M3 Pro Launch Date and High-Res Render
The Poco Global page has revealed that the Poco M3 Pro will debut on May 19 at 20:00 GMT+ 8 in the global market. The launch will be streamed live on the Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter pages of Poco. The launch poster doesn’t really reveal anything as it just shows the ‘M’ letter enticing the fans.
What’s waiting for the fans is the poster leak that we received from the renowned tipster Ishan Agarwal. The poster gives us a first look at the smartphone revealing its unique rear design, which you would either love or hate, there’s nothing in between. Anyways, briefing the design, the M3 Pro has a tall form-factor with a punch-hole display upfront.
It is a center punch-hole holding the selfie camera. The bezels look thin overall except for the bottom chin. Moving to the rear, the phone has a dual-tone design with a solid color to the body and a Black camera island. Here, the camera island is resting on the Black framing that has the huge ‘Poco’ branding.
The rear camera setup is vertical and it features a triple camera setup. We’ll brief the sensors in the latter part of the article. Going ahead, the back also has the ‘5G’ branding at the bottom. On the right side, it has a volume rocker and a power button that doubles up as an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Apart from the refreshing design, the phone’s color variants are also visible. Not the official names but Dark Blue, OG Poco Yellow, and Black colors are what will be available once released.
Poco M3 Pro Smartphone Specifications
Design – Original or Rebadged?
First of all, let’s get it cleared. The Poco M3 Pro won’t really be a new offering from the tech giant. Rather, it will be a rebranded device for the global and Indian market.
Earlier this month, we learned that it carries the same IMEI number as the already available Redmi Note 10 5G. It tops off the rumors as it will most probably feature the same specs. Although same specs, Poco has recreated the whole design for the global and Indian audience.
Display and Cameras
If it will be a rebranded Note 10 5G, the phone will feature a 6.5-inch punch-hole display with a Full-HD+ resolution. It will be an LCD panel with a 90Hz high refresh rate. The front cut-out will hold an 8MP selfie camera.
The device will flaunt a 48MP triple rear camera system and out of the three, the other two sensors will be for a 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. Although we do not know the technicalities of the cameras still we can expect a 4K video recording from the same.
Raw Hardware
As for hardware, the smartphone expected to come powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. For those who are unaware, it is an octa-core chipset based on a 7nm efficient process. It supports 5G connectivity and so does the phone. The chipset is accompanied by a Mali-G57 GPU for graphics.
Poco phones or rather the parent brand Xiaomi is known for offering a good battery in the budge devices. The same will be the case here, the M3 Pro will get a chunky 5,000mAh Li-Po battery with support for some sort of fast charging. We expect it to have 18W Quick charging support.
Poco UI is Coming!
Rumors are rife that Poco will soon launch its Poco UI which will offer a feature-rich Android experience. Leaks point out that the upcoming Poco phones, probably the Poco F3 GT will boot on the same Poco UI based on Android 11 out of the box. For starters, the Poco UI will be nothing but a tweaked skin that will flow over the MIUI skin with additional features.
The company is said to have added features suggested by Poco and Xiaomi fans on the Mi community. Now it remains to be seen that how will it actually look and perform over the current Poco skin. How will it differ from the custom MIUI skin? Which devices will be supported? Well, let’s wait for the company to break the silence in the coming weeks. Until then, let us know what do you feel about the M3 Pro and the Poco UI in the comment section.
