Realme has an exclusive Q-series in the Chinese market that offers affordable smartphones to the masses. The series has just been updated by the new Realme Q3 series which includes three smartphones, the Realme Q3, Realme Q3 Pro, and Realme Q3i. The major highlight of the series is its price followed by luring specs such as up to 120Hz AMOLED panel, big battery, and up to 8GB of RAM.

The Q3 series brings improvements in the internals and the design footprints. For starters, the Q3i is the cheapest phone in the series, in fact, one of the cheapest 5G phones in the region. The vanilla Q3 comes next and then there’s the Q3 Pro.

Display and Design

The Realme Q3 and Q3 Pro share a few similarities in terms of design and built but are way different in terms of the internals. The Q3 has a 6.5-inch LCD display with a Full-HD+ resolution, whereas, the Q3 Pro features a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. While the refresh rate in Q3 is yet to be known, the Pro variant leads with its 120hz refresh rate and whopping 360Hz touch sampling rate.

Before heading to the display specs of the Pro model, let us tell you that the phones are built out of high-quality polycarbonate material. The Pro has a ‘Dare to Leap’ branding, whereas, the vanilla has the same branding on top of a bolded strip.

Getting back to the display, the Pro supports a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and has a bright panel. The vanilla Q3’s display has a 96% NTS color gamut.

Cameras

The display on both phones has a cut-out for a single selfie camera. The duo has a 16MP selfie lens for clicking portrait shots. Briefing the optics, the Realme Q3 has a triple rear camera setup. The setup goes by the 48MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro sensor.

The Q3 Pro on the other hand has a 64MP primary sensor with an 8MP wide and 2MP macro. Apparently, the phones can shoot 4k videos but the vanilla is limited to 30fps, whereas, the Pro goes to full-fledged 60fps.

Hardware and Software

The major difference between the two is the SoC. The Q3 fuels the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset which is based on an 8nm process and supports 5G. The Q3 Pro rocks a MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset which is based on a more efficient 6nm process. The octa-core chipsets are paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage on the vanilla and up to 256GB storage on the Pro. It is the fast UFS 3.1 storage in both handsets.

The Q3 houses a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, while the Q3 Pro juices on a 4,500mAh cell with the same 30W fast charging. The battery can be juiced up with the help of a USB Type-C port at the bottom. Realme has also retained the 3.5mm headphone jack on both smartphones.

Security is another major component differing in the phones. The Q3 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, whereas, there’s the in-display fingerprint scanner in the Q3 Pro.

Wi-Fi 5, dual-SIM, Bluetooth v5.1 is supported on both smartphones. Booting Android 11 out of the box, the smartphones run on the Realme UI.

Realme Q3, Q3 Pro Pricing, and Color Variants

The Realme Q3 comes in Sci-Fi Black and Psychedelic Silver for a starting price of CNY 1,299(roughly $200). The higher 8GB + 128GB storage variant will cost you CNY 1,399(roughly $215). The Q3 Pro on the other hand has three color options – Gravitational Black, Electric Blue, and Firefly. Interestingly, the Dare to Leap branding on the Firefly color glows in the dark. The Pro will cost you CNY 1,599(roughly $246) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage will retail for CNY 1,799(roughly $277) and CNY 1,999(roughly $308) is what you need to pay for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.

The Realme Q3i 5G Specifications and Pricing

Design and Display

The Realme Q3i 5G is built out of the same polycarbonate material as the siblings. It features a 6.5-inch punch-hole LCD display with and Full-HD+ resolution. It is a 90Hz refresh rate panel with a 180Hz touch sampling rate.

The phone has a standard rear design without any ‘Dare to Leap’ branding as seen in the Q3 and Q3 Pro. It just has a Realme branding at the bottom.

Cameras

The smartphone boasts a vertical rear camera module with triple rear cameras. Oddly, the setup seems to have four sensors but the fourth is just a dummy unit. There is a 48MP primary lens, another 2MP macro sensor, and lastly a 2MP portrait lens.

It has a 16MP front-facing camera for selfie shots. The rear camera is capable of recording 1080p videos at 60fps and also has slow-motion and timelapse mode.

Hardware and Software

At the helm, the phone fuels the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. It is an octa-core chipset coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As compared to the UFS 3.1 storage in the siblings, the Q3i has a UFS 2.1 native storage. Realme has also offered a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

It packs a 5,000mAh battery cell with 18W fast charging support. It has the USB Type-C port for juicing the handset and also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security.

Realme Q3i 5G Pricing and Color Variants

The Realme Q3i 5G comes in two colorways – Light Blue and Particle Ash. It starts at CNY 1,099(roughly $169) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,199(roughly $185).
