Google earlier enabled Pixel 3 customers to back up photographs and videos taken with their Pixel phones at their full size in Google Photos for complimentary, without counting against memory restrictions.

Free Original quality, an option that has been available on both handsets for much more than 3 years is coming to an end. As last year google also ended the regular software update for both pixel phones after it got Android 12

According to the company’s official support website, users will be able to post pictures at the “Storage saving” quality at unrestricted, an option that compresses images and videos before uploading them to Google Photos. Larger pictures will be scaled to 16-megapixel resolution. Moreover, according to Google, the high-resolution video would be reduced to 1080p using the Storage saving setting.

Furthermore, Google stated that “pictures and videos saved up in Original quality will count against your Google Account storage after January 31, 2022. However, this only applies to fresh content; existing backed-up pics will be safe.

Google promised limitless cloud storage for pics and video when it debuted the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL in October 2018.

Google said in 2020 that it will discontinue support for users’ free, unlimited picture backups in June 2021. Google said that the move was caused by an increase in the number of photographs submitted, with over a billion users and 4 trillion images uploaded.

After Google eliminated support for other Pixel devices in recent years, the Pixel 3 was one of the last Pixel phones to provide limitless Original quality uploads. However, the new Pixel 6, receives limitless high-quality or Storage saver uploads.
