Out of all the budget Redmi phones, the Redmi Note series phones are quite popular in China and India. These phones have been landing in different markets by either getting rebranded or rebadged. Some of the popular phones from the series have to be the much-hyped Redmi Note 3, Note 4, and the Redmi Note 8. The Redmi Note 8 is one of the recent ones launched back in 2019 offering real value for the price. Due to its specs to performance ratio, the phone became popular, so much so that the device did phenomenally in launch year as well as in 2020.

Now, Xiaomi has revealed that the device was one of the most popular phones across the world. The company has shared a report that confirms Redmi has sold more than 25 million units globally. To celebrate this achievement, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of an improved special edition of the Note 8 dubbed Redmi Note 8 2021.

While earlier we only learned about its moniker, now, the company has shared a poster that shows the front design of the device. We’ll also have a look at the rumored specifications of the smartphone.

According to the image, the device seems to mimic the original design by implementing the same dew-drop notch screen with Redmi branding on the chin. It seems that the device won’t get any physical changes at least at the front. Let’s wait for the back design to get teased in the coming weeks.

Regarding the specs, the smartphone’s internals have been tipped and they looks enticing.

Redmi Note 8 2021 Edition Specifications(Expected)

120Hz Refresh Rate is happening

The smartphone is said to boast the same design with a similar glass-sandwich design. What will change would be the display specs. The screen would be the same LCD panel but with a higher 120Hz refresh rate, which apparently is the current standard.

It will have modern aspect ratio with bright screen and higher touch-sampling rate. Due to its higher refresh rate and touch sampling rate we can expect it to offer edge in gaming.

Improved and Efficient Chipset

Apart from the display, another major change would be in the processor. While the original powered a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, the 2021 edition will fuel the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. The Helio G85 is slightly better than the Snapdragon 665 and comes based on an efficient process.

It is expected to be paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.

22.5W Fast Charging Supported

The device is expected to boast the same 4,000mAh battery but with a faster-charging speeds. It is said to come with a 22.5W fast charging technology which will be upgraded over the 18W support on the original.

Better Software and Improved Cameras

We can expect it to run on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box. It will probably feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and support for face unlock. Interestingly the phone was seen on Geekbench with better Bluetooth version 5.2.

Rumors rife that the device would be carrying the same camera module as the original but with a few tweaks. We aren’t completely sure what would be the changes but we can expect a few modes to be added.

Launch Date and Availability

As far as availability is concerned, the Redmi Note 10 2021 Editon will be limited to China once it arrives. Speaking of which, the arrival date is still a question and the pricing is also yet to be revealed.
